GIANLUCA VIALLI: David Moyes Would Have Been Sacked Three Times In Italy By Now

It ain’t all bad for David Moyes he could be working in Italy. Where he’d currently be out of a job, according to Gianluca Vialli, who’s made an interesting cultural comparison between Italy and England.

Serie A benches are notoriously fitted with ejector seats, to be activated at the first sign of a crisis; but in England, things are a little more patient, as Villai explained on BBC Radio 4:

“In Italy, managers are judged simply by results,Italian managers don’t enjoy themselves at all.”

David Moyes, in Italy, would have been sacked three times now.

“In the Premier League you get the feeling they give you a bit longer to sort out problems.

“They are more understanding and, most importantly, owners of football clubs don’t think they know more than managers.

“They let managers run it for a while and don’t just sack you after the first two or three defeats.”

Three may be an exaggeration – look at Allegri at Milan, who lasted through several crises, but Moyes definitely wouldn’t survive the entire season in Serie A at this rate.

Will he survive it in England though?
