Manchester City Are Preparing A €200m Offer For Lionel Messi

El Confidencial is a pretty reliable newspaper in Spain, focussing mainly on business, it is not a tabloid that is simply looking to sell copy or attract hits.

So, there must be some truth to their reporting on Thursday morning that Manchester City are preparing a 200 million euro offer for Lionel Messi.

Perhaps Messi really does want to leave Barcelona or his father Jorge Messi is looking for another contract extension, either way don’t be surprised when this transfer rumour hits the back pages in the UK, probably tomorrow.

According to El Confidencial, Manchester City have approached Lionel Messi’s father Jorge and told him that they are willing to pay his buyout clause at Barcelona of 200 million euros.

This offer is now well know amongst Jorge Messi and his advisers with PSG also monitoring the situation very closely.

There are also suggestions in the article that Lionel Messi is becoming a little disenchanted with life at the Nou Camp and has become distant to his Barcelona team mates.

Ferran Soriano and Txiki Begiristain who used to work at Barcelona but are now at Manchester City have assured Messi he will have an easier time at the Etihad where of course they will bump up his salary to an astronomical 25 million euros per season.

PSG are, according to El Confidencial, willing to sell Zlatan Ibrahimovic, should they feel Lionel Messi is attainable but the current tax rules in France may restrict their personal offer to the Argentine.

Finally, El Confidencial add that Barcelona are weighing up another contract extension for Messi to avoid losing the world star to either Manchester City or PSG.
