Pepe is on a career high at the moment, not only in terms of results, but also in terms of his development as a footballer: he is feeling important and strong - something that shows in the way he talks about Real Madrid, like a leader.
In an interview with Portuguese newspaper 'Record', Pepe said:
"We have to believe we can win the 'Decima' (tenth Champions League title). We're working towards that and the truth is that we are doing a good job, both in 'la Liga' and in the Champions League. And we've got the Cup final, too. We're doing really well at the best stage of the season. We are a consistent and reliable team".
He and Cristiano Ronaldo are inseparable when away with their national squad: "Cristiano surprises us every day. He doesn't have any limits.
He has the mindset of always wanting to do more. He's always trying to beat last year's goal record and that's why he's so exceptional", commented Pepe.
Asked whether he shares in the pride of Ronaldo's second Ballon d'Or wins, he said: "As his friend and being Portuguese, I'm proud he's won his second Ballon d'Or. I was very happy, he deserved it - it had been a long time coming. I don't think there's any way to describe what CR7 is doing at Real Madrid, his statistics. I would find it hard to believe if I didn't see him play every day".
