The Gunners have notched up more points than any of their previous six seasons, however, having led the table for much of the campaign they fell away in March, dropping down to what has become their customary position of fourth.
Champions League football has been secured for a 16th successive season, while there remains the chance of ending nine years without a trophy when Arsenal meet Hull in the FA Cup final on May 17.
However, speaking following a drab 1-0 victory over West Brom, Wenger said: "This year has been a certain degree of progress and frustration as well because when you’re close [to the top] you think a lot about the games you could have won and we didn’t win.
"But overall I think if you look at the performance of the team in the FA Cup, the Champions League and the Premier League, we have been very consistent and very serious.
"We lack maybe a few goals in the Premier League and we’ve conceded too many in the big games and that’s where we lost the title this season."
One striker Arsenal could bring in this summer is Newcastle's on-loan striker Loic Remy, who was spotted in the Emirates during the win over the Baggies.
However, Wenger refused to be drawn on whether the Gunners would submit a bid to the Frenchman's parent club QPR.
"I didn’t know Loic Remy was here. Maybe he enjoys Arsenal and the way we play football but I didn’t invite him. At the moment I’m just focused on us scoring more goals with the players we have.
"We are not focused on Remy at all. We have two big games now, Norwich away from home and the cup final. Transfers will come after that."
