Nigeria moved up one spot to the 44th position in the latest Fifa global rankings released on Thursday.
The Super Eagles were ranked 45th in last month's rankings improved with 35 days to the 2014 Fifa World Cup.
The reigning Africa Cup of Nations champions' position on the continent remains unchanged at sixth, still behind Cape Varde who are ranked fifth.
In the overall world ranking, Europe still occupies the top three places with Spain, Germany and Portugal occupying the first, second and third positions respectively.
Behind the top three are four South American sides in Brazil, (4th, up 2), Colombia (5th, down 1) and fierce rivals Uruguay (6th, down 1) and Argentina (down 1), who share seventh position.
Cote D'Ivoire remain the top-ranked African side static at 21 this month. Egypt are unmoved from 24th position in the world and second in Africa. They are followed by Algeria in 25, Ghana 38, Cape Verde 42, Tunisia 49, Cameroon 50, Guinea51 and Mali 59 to round up the African top ten.
Nigeria's World Cup Group F opponents are ranked thus: Argentina 7, Bosnia-Herzegovina 25 and Iran 37.
The next FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking will be published on 5 June 2014.
