Nigeria: Madu, Ndidi Earns Late Super Eagles Call

Nigeria head coach, Sunday Oliseh, has handed out late call-ups to Wilfried Ndidi and Kingsley Madu for the international friendlies with DR Congo and Cameroon.

The Super Eagles only have 16 players in camp because of the inability of six home-based players to fly out from Nigeria to join the rest of the squad in Belgium.

Ndidi, who can play in central defence and in midfield plays for RC Genk in the Belgian first division while Kingsley Madu, who started the game against Tanzania in Dar es Salaam plays for Slovakian side AS Trencin.

Portugal-based goalkeeper Dele Alampasu is also in the mix as he has already reported to camp in preparation for the game.

Oliseh has directed that the six home-based players join up with the rest of the home-based squad who are in Port Harcourt to prepare for the 2016 Chan qualifier with Burkina Faso.

The team’s preparation for the international friendlies has been hampered by injuries, change of match venues and personality clashes as Oliseh continues to tinker with the squad.

Nigeria take on the Leopards of DR Congo on Thursday before squaring up to the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon on Sunday, October 11.
