AFCON U-23 Championship: Algeria Must Fall - Peter Onyekachi

Peter knows that Algeria must fall for them to keep their Olympics hopes alive. If Algeria refuses to fall the only alternative is for Egypt to lose or draw against Mali but many believe that the Pharoahs will trash the weeping boys in the Group. Peter and co understand this and they seem ready to make the Foxes of Algeria to fall in Senegal. It's simply a fight for Rio..

Nigeria’s under-23 team forward, Onyekachi Peter, has charged teammates that Nigerians will not take excuses for failure to overcome the Fennec Foxes of Algeria at the ongoing Under-23 Africa Cup of Nations in Senegal.

The nation’s campaigners are involved in a do-or-die clash against leaders Algeria in Saturday’s last group match at the 60,000-seat Stade Leopold Sedar Senghor in Dakar, Senegal.

Peter said he has personally spoken to almost 80 percent of the players on the need to spill blood on the field of play if need be to ensure the semifinals ticket is achieved.

“The format adopted in the past two matches were not in order and I did complain when I spoke with the players.

“Some key members of the team spoken to actually complained of bad weather that mostly affect their performances in the second half of the match.

“However, I told them that Nigerians will not take excuses whether the weather is good or bad they must go all out to beat the Algerians.

“I know Algeria need the points but I made them to understand that we need the points more than the Algerians.

“They have promised not to disappoint Nigerians in the crunch clash against Algeria on Saturday.

“I told them the greatest gift for me and Nigeria is a ticket to the semifinals as well as Olympic ticket to Rio,” said the Enyimba marksman to supersport.com.

The Dream Team VI need an outright win against Algeria to guarantee passage to the semifinals as well as inches nearer to clinching one of the three automatic Olympic tickets at stake in Senegal.
