Chelsea Loan Kenneth Omeruo to Middlebrough
Chelsea have confirmed they have loaned out Nigeria defender Kenneth Omeruo to Middlesbrough till season’s end.
Omeruo’s adviser, Conleth Chika Akujobi, told MTNFootball.com that the loan move was finalised on Monday evening at the Riverside.
Middlesbrough first tried to get him in the summer.
The 20-year-old Omeruo has been training with the Chelsea main squad since last year after he spent a season and a half at Dutch club ADO Den Haag, also on loan from Chelsea.
The Nigeria star has a contract with Chelsea till June 2015 and wants to have some playing time under his belt so as to make the Super Eagles squad to the World Cup in Brazil in June.
‘Boro manager Aitor Karanka, who was an assistant to Jose Mourinho at Real Madrid, said they expect Omeruo to shore up their defence after he was personally recommended to him by Mourinho.
Middlesbrough are 15th on the 24-team English Championship
