Real Madrid are flying high and so is Cristiano Ronaldo. Though his injury problems have likely scuppered his chances of equalling the 60 goals he grabbed in 2011-12, CR7 has still notched up the best strike rate of his career this season.
With 49 goals in 44 appearances, Cristiano's strike rate currently stands at 1.11 goals a game, edging his previous record. Last season and in 2010-11 he averaged a goal a match, scoring 55 in 55 fixtures and 54 in 54 respectively.
His previous best campaign was 2011-12, when he hit the net 60 times in 55 appearances, equivalent to 1.09 goals per encounter. His worst return came in his first year at Real, when he netted a paltry 33 goals in 35 matches - the only time he has averaged under a goal a game since joining 'Los Blancos'.
Cristiano is well on course to smash all the goalscoring records at the Bernabéu. Indeed, the Portuguese forward is the only player in the club's history to boast a strike rate of more than a goal every match after five seasons in Madrid.
With 251 goals under his belt in just five years, CR7 is already Real Madrid's fourth top scorer of all time, behind only Santillana (290 goals in 17 years), Di Stéfano (318 in 11) and Raúl (323 in 16).
