According to his deal with Barça, he would be repaid the €5m should he ever sign for another team, but the club warned that if that deal was every made public it would flatly deny it.
Fàbregas joined Barcelona during the 2011/12 season after the Catalans paid Arsenal €40m for the midfielder.
It appears that Fàbregas had to pay a further €5m of his own money to seal the deal, under the premise that it would be repaid to him.
