Real Madrid: 9 Challenges In 9 Months For Cristiano Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo's seventh season with 'Los Blancos' looks set to be a real record-breaker. The Portuguese has many challenges ahead in order for him to become even more of a legend at Real Madrid. One important title, that of the maximum goalscorer in all the club's history, is more than probably just a few games away. Only nine goals are needed to get there. He may do it in three, four or five games. Who knows? If we look to his goalscoring average, it would be in nine games before he declares himself the most effective forward in all the 113 years of the Madrilenian club's history.

CR7 has racked up 314 goals from the 300 games he has played for his present club across all competitions. Raúl scored 323 times from the 741 matches that he played in. The Portuguese already holds the record as the player with the highest strike rate, but he wants it all, and doesn't want to waste any time getting it.

In Gijón, the forward will set off on his journey to make even more history for himself at Real. He is just two goals away from reaching Raúl's record as the maximum goalscorer for the club in league games. A hat trick would see him going one better. Bearing in mind that he already has the record as the player to have scored the most hat tricks in la Liga, the idea of him cruising past Raúl's mark this weekend is by no means ridiculous.

The player is not just out to beat records connected to his club, however. There are also personal challenges that he is set on achieving: Beating Zarra's 251 goals, equaling the three consecutive 'Pichichi' titles claimed by Hugo Sánchez and once and for all beating Messi in the fight to be the Champions League top goalscorer are just some of the things that the Portuguese wants to see happen this campaign.

Here are CR7's big nine challenges for this season:

1) To become the maximum Liga goalscorer in Real Madrid's history.
2) To become Real Madrid's highest goalscorer of all time.
3) To beat Zarra, the second-highest goalscorer ever in la Liga.
4) To achieve his third consecutive 'Pichichi' title.
5) To win the Golden Boot award.
6) To score four consecutive hat tricks in la Liga.
7) To beat Messi in the race to become the Champions League's highest goalscorer.
8) To improve on his personal record of 61 goals in a season.
9) To score his first goal from an overhead kick for Real Madrid.
