IVORY COAST: Drogba Now A Gold Seller
Ivory Coast international Didier Drogba on Tuesday signed his entry into the capital of state-owned Ity Mines Cooperation, after acquiring 5% shares from the government last year.
The 35-year-old striker, who now plies his trade in Turkey at Galatarasay, officialised the deal by signing a couple of documents in the presence of the country’s Prime Minister Daniel Kablan Duncan and two other ministers in Abidjan.
The Didier Drogba Group (DDG) is the footballer’s business venture which was launched last year to participate in local investments and contribute in rebuilding the war-torn nation by providing job opportunities for youths.
Founded in 1991, the Ity Mines Cooperation is in charge of the exploitation of gold mines in the village of Ity in western Ivory Coast, and has already produced 800,000 tons since then.
