Jose Mourinho Wants Raphael Varane To Move To Chelsea

José Mourinho has his beady eye on Raphaël Varane. The Chelsea manager has already started to draw up his lists for the next season and has asked the directors of the London club to sign the Real Madrid centre-back.

The Portuguese coach knows Varane very well, as he managed the Frenchman for two seasons at Real Madrid, giving him his big chance to be a surefire starter for 'Los Blancos'.

Varane's arrival at the Santiago Bernabéu was in the summer of 2011 following a recommendation by fellow countryman Zinedine Zidane, who fell in love with the player when he saw the youngster playing for Lens at the age of 18. Real happily forked out €10 million and signed him until 2017.

From the very first moment, Mourinho could see that Varane had what it took to make it big time. Little by little he gave the player more and more minutes, rotating him with veteran defenders Pepe and Sergio Ramos.

This continued up until last season, perhaps the key match being the Cup game against Barça with the Frenchman scoring in both legs, when he became a constant figure in defence, backed both by his Portuguese gaffer and the Real Madrid fans.
