Emenike Scores After 3-Month Goal Drought

Emmanuel Emenike scored his first league goal in three months for Turkish club Fenerbahçe in the club’s 2-1 win over Karabükspor in the Süper Lig on Saturday. Emenike, who last scored for Fener on November 2, 2014 in the 2-0 victory over Besiktas, smacked home his side’s second goal of the night against Karabükspor at Dr. Necmettin Seyhoglu Stadi.

Emenike’s goal was a display of brute force and unerring accuracy as he shrugged off a Karabükspor defender before firing past goalkeeper, Boy Waterman in the 58th minute.

Most footballers choose not to celebrate when they score against their former clubs and Emenike, who was in the books of Karabukspor between 2009 and 2011 refused to celebrate when he scored against the club last season (on December 22, 2013) at the same venue.

This time however, the striker failed to mask his emotions as he broke into an expansive smile and wheeled away with his teammates at his wake before capping his celebrations with a somersault.

Emenike has now scored three league goals this season.

The win on Saturday enabled the Yellow Canaries pull away at the top of the Süper Lig standings as they now enjoy a four-point lead over their nearest rivals, Besiktas.

Fener have amassed 42 points from 18 league matches this season.
