Iker came across the statue of the Portuguese manager that takes pride of place at the club, in recognition of the successes that Mou achieved with Porto. Together, they became European champions, won two leagues, a cup and a UEFA Cup. When the keeper came across the statue during his tour, he smiled and joked, "Well if it isn't Mou".
Iker already knows when he will be able to meet his new fans and get a feel for his new home turf. It will be on 8th August, in a ceremony in which the players will run out onto the pitch one by one to greet the fans.
The big day will finish with a game against a team that has not yet been decided on, but will probably be Italian.
Before then, the keeper will have a chance to try on his new shirt, with the No.12 on its back, in some games that Porto have planned for their pre-season in Holland and Germany.
