Jose Mourinho Has A Big Ego - Micheal Essien

Michael Essien has opened up about his time at Chelsea and revealed that Jose Mourinho does have a big ego - but it's definitely not a bad thing.

The Ghanaian joined the Premier League champions in 2005 from Lyon and immediately became a pivotal player under the Portuguese manager.

Essien praised Mourinho for the way he handled the big personalities in the dressing room and of course his own.

The Ghanaian had a successful time at the Premier League club before departing for Italy
He told the Guardian: 'We had players with big egos and big characters but at the same time they were good men as well. Mourinho has a big ego as well – but in a good way.

'It was easy for him to manage those kind of players. He is still the same man. He's still tough.'

Essien joined Mourinho in Spain in 2012 when he left for Real Madrid and the pair have always had a close relationship.

The 32-year-old recently joined Panathinaikos from AC Milan and signed a two-year deal with the Greek outfit.

Since leaving Chelsea, he's featured for some of Europe's biggest sides but now finds himself playing in the sunshine of Athens.
