Manchester City In £45m Improved Bid For Liverpool's Raheem Sterling

Manchester City have tabled an improved offer of £45million for Liverpool attacker Raheem Sterling, talkSPORT have been told. The Blues had previously bid £40m for the player, which was rejected, but have now come back with a better one as they look to tempt the Reds into selling their star asset.

According Daily Mail football reporter Sami Mokbel, if the deal is accepted, Sterling will miss Liverpool’s pre-season tour to negotiate his personal terms but has denied this move is motivated by money.

He told the Weekend Sports Breakfast: “The understanding now is that a new offer has gone in of £45million and Manchester City believe that should just be enough to persuade Liverpool to let Raheem Sterling leave.

“If Liverpool and Manchester City can agree that deal then I expect him to not go on the tour and to stay in England to discuss personal terms this week.

“I wouldn’t expect his wage to be too far north of £100,000 a week. Raheem has taken a lot of stick in certain circles over the last few weeks but this is a footballing decision. He sees his development and his career away from Anfield, for whatever reason, and that’s the main factor, not the money.

“We will see details of his pay package at Man City emerge and I think perhaps it isn’t a decision and a move driven by money.”
