Chelsea Set To Sign John Stones For £35million From Everton

Chelsea are on the verge of signing Everton centre back John Stones after the Merseyside club took a U-Turn on the stance that their defender was not for sale at any price.

The Sun reports that Roberto Martinez’s side will now accept an offer for the England Under 21 international should Chelsea make a bid in excess of £35million.

It is understood that Blues boss Jose Mourinho has made signing the defender his top priority during the summer transfer window and the West London club are prepared to match Everton’s valuation of the player.

The 21-year-old defender has been the subject of interest from Premier League giants Manchester City and Manchester United but it seems as though London will be the players next destination.

Chelsea fans will hope the signing of John Stones will help steady the clubs unusually poor defense as the Blues have now conceded 5 goals in their opening 2 games this season. The Premier League champions currently sit in 16th place after a humiliating defeat to title rivals Manchester City on Sunday.
