SOUTHAMPTON vs CHELSEA: Three Chelsea players to miss Match

Chelsea are without Frank Lampard, Branislav Ivanovic and David Luiz for the New Year’s Day trip to St. Mary’s stadium to face Southampton.

Lampard (undisclosed muscular injury) and Ivanovic (knee) were injured in Sunday’s win over Liverpool, when Luiz picked up his fifth booking of the season to incur a suspension.
Ivanovic’s injury means Ashley Cole is set to return at left-back with Cesar Azpilicueta switching to the right, while midfielder Ramires is back from a one-game ban.

For Southampton, Dani Osvaldo suffered a knock in the 1-1 draw at Newcastle and, having recovered from that, was then struck down by illness, but could return for the match against the Blues.

Morgan Schneiderlin returns from suspension while Nathaniel Clyne will be hoping to start as he steps up his return from a hamstring complaint.

Artur Boruc (hand), Victor Wanyama (shin) and Guly do Prado (knee) remain sidelined.

Chelsea’s provisional squad: Cech, Cole, Essien, Ramires, Torres, Mata, Oscar, Mikel, Schurrle, De Bruyne, Hazard, Ba, Willian, Schwarzer, Cahill, Terry, Azpilicueta, Eto’o, Blackman, Bertrand.

Southampton’s provisional squad: K Davis, Gazzaniga, Cropper, Clyne, Chambers, Shaw, Fox, Lovren, Fonte, Yoshida, Hooiveld, Schneiderlin, Reed, Cork, S Davis, Ward-Prowse, Ramirez, Rodriguez, Lallana, Gallagher, Osvaldo, Lambert.
