WORLD CUP: Watch How CNN Reporter Was Hit By Tear Gas In Sao Paulo, Brazil

                       Protests in Brazil in the run-up to the World Cup have been almost a daily occurrence for months, but the trouble on the streets of the World Cup host nation went global during a protest on Thursday.

CCN had two reporters on the ground as protesters clashed with riot police in Sao Paulo several hours before city opened the world biggest football competition, and the American reporters got caught up in the violence.

CNN have confirmed that reporter Shasta Darlington and producer Barbara Arvanitidis were slightly injured when one of the tear gas canisters fired by police hit them.


Darlington suffered a minor cut on her arm, and Arvanitidis was hit on the wrist.

Both CNN employees are ultimately fine.
