Spain goalkeeper and captain Iker Casillas has apologized to fans after the reigning world champions crashed out at the group stage following defeat against Chile.
Many will blame Casillas who was extremely poor in the group opener against Holland and continued his poor run of form against Chile.
But Casillas asked for forgiveness from fans and accepted responsibility. He added: “We’re hurting and annoyed.”
He finished his interview with Tele 5 by saying that decisions shouldn’t be made in the heat of the moment, perhaps anticipating a backlash against the old guard of Spain.
