Laporta has two big names on his shopping list. One of them is Bernardo Silva, midfielder at Mónaco and of the great young promises of European football. In the last European U-21 tournament, the player put in some sublime performances for Portugal, who finally claimed second place. Silva is a man that many big European clubs are after, which is a huge problem for Barcelona, as the club cannot take in any new players to its ranks this summer. The midfielder may be snapped up by another club before the 'Azulgranas' get a chance to.
Laporta's plan is to use Abidal to get Silva to stay where he is until Barça are allowed to take him on board. The ex-Barça player has also played for Mónaco and gets on very well with the club's directors. Moreover, Bernardo Silva's agent, Jorge Mendes, is a great friend of Laporta's.
The other man in Laporta's sights is Paul Pogba. This is no big secret as all the candidates have declared their wish to sign the player. With Pogba, however, Laporta would go all out to sign him as soon as he came into office. He does not want to run the risk of waiting for a year. Again, he will have Abidal to help him, but also fierce competition from Manchester City.
