PADFOOTBALL: Fans Mock Henderson Over FIFA 16 Cover Says Messi Doesn't Know Him

Football fans weren’t pleased with the announcement that Jordan Henderson had won the vote to be the FIFA 16 UK cover star. It capped a massive day for Henderson. The Liverpool midfielder had also been named as the new captain of the club after the role was vacated by Steven Gerrard’s departure.

Unfortunately, not everyone could share in his happiness. Some were so put off that they declared they would be boycotting this year’s release and instead buying jaded rival Pro Evolution Soccer.

The main issue seems to be the fact that Henderson is gracing the same cover as Barcelona forward Lionel Messi, arguably the best player of all time. See some of the mocking tweets below.


Henderson admitted he was honoured to appear alongside the Argentinian, but the cover has a touch of parody about it.

When he first arrived at Liverpool for a scandalously inflated price tag, Henderson was torn about by supporters who found his ability to be substandard.

While he has notably improved in recent seasons, his greatest quality is his industry rather than his technical ability.
