Fenerbahce Fans Give Van Persie Heroic Welcome

Manchester United striker Robin Van Persie was mobbed by thousands of Fenerbahce fans as the forward arrived in Istanbul to complete his move to the Turkish side this evening.

The Dutchman is expected to be officially unveiled as a Fenerbahce player tomorrow after travelling to Turkey to complete a medical.

Robin Van Persie left Manchester earlier on Sunday afternoon with a Fenerbahce scarf around his neck and was greeted by some very excited supporters at Sabiha Gokcen Airport in Turkey.

Hundreds of supporters, clad in the famous yellow and navy colours of the club, surrounded the airport exit as the 31 year old left with his wife Bouchra and his two children.

Robin Van Persie departs Old Trafford after reportedly falling out with Man United United boss Louis van Gaal, who he had previously had significant success under with the Dutch national team.

It is understood that Manchester United will look to replace Robin Van Persie with another forward during the summer transfer window. In the last few weeks the club have been linked with Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane and Napoli forward Gonzalo Higuain, with the latter reported to be interested in a move to Old Trafford.
