Man United Attempting To Re-Sign Ronaldo Back

Having landed some big signings already this summer, Manchester United now have their sights set on an altogether bigger target: they want to sign Cristiano Ronaldo, according to Manchester Evening News tonight.

Re-sign, that is, as Ronaldo played for United for six seasons, before moving to the Bernabeu in 2009 for a world record 80m pounds.

But in truth, when you read through the MEN article, there’s little in the way of concrete information, with the reporter limiting himself to vague talk of United ‘trying’ to sign Ronaldo (what does that mean? Preparing a bid?)

This kind of talk has been ongoing for at least a year now, but with Madrid citing a 1bn euro buyout clause, no bid has ever been forthcoming from United.

MEN appear to be using Ronaldo’s apparent malaise at Madrid as their main source of information in this case, implying that United are confident they can profit from the supposed tensions between Ronaldo and new manager Rafa Benitez.

Manchester United would love to have Ronaldo, in fact they’d love it if he’d never left; this is common knowledge, and all this story appears to do is reiterate that.
