Nigeria’s Falconets were in ruthless form on Sunday as they thrashed Liberia 7-1 in 2016 Fifa Under-20 Women’s World Cup qualifying game in Monrovia.
The Falconets began the fixture at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium in blistering fashion netting inside the first quarter hour through Yetunde Adeboyejo. The irrepressible Adeboyejo was to grab a hattrick on the day as she added further goal scoring contributions in the 36th and 60thn minutes.
Rivers Angels starlet, Amarachi Ojinma scored a brace while Chinwendu Ihezuo and Juliet Sunday also scored as Nigeria won in convincing fashion.
The return leg in Nigeria in a fortnight is little more than a formality following the earth-shaking nature of Sunday’s result.
The 2016 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup will be the 8th edition of the tournament. The tournament will be hosted by Papua New Guinea.
The competition will be played from 28 October to 16 November 2016.
