Tottenham striker Emmanuel Adebayor is having second thoughts over the opportunity to join Aston Villa on loan this summer, according to Sportsmail.
Deemed surplus to requirements at White Hart Lane by Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino with one year left on his contract, after making just 9 Premier League starts last season as a third choice frontman behind Harry Kane and Roberto Soldado, the 31-year-old has been strongly linked with a reunion with former boss Tim Sherwood.
Sherwood got the best of the Togolese international during his short spell at the helm of Tottenham between December 2013 and May 2014, and is willing to help the player kick start his career at Villa Park.
Adebayor even passed his medical at the club last week, before holding face-to-face talks with his former coach on Monday.
However, the striker is reportedly concerned about Villa’s lack of depth and fears the club could be just fighting to avoid relegation.
The news will come as something of a blow to Tottenham, who are desperate to offload the former Arsenal and Manchester City hitman and save part of his £100,000-a-week wages.
