Juventus Set To Bid For Erik Lamela

Judging by the way some Tottenham supporters reacted to Erik Lamela’s performance against Stoke on Saturday, now might be a good time for the Argentine to return to Serie A.

And, when you consider that a number of the seven players brought in with the Gareth Bale money from Real Madrid have been jettisoned this summer, including Lamela’s great mate Roberto Soldado, perhaps the end is nigh.

Respected Sky Italia pundit Gianluca Di Marzio has reported on Saturday night that Juventus look set to move for Erik Lamela in this transfer window.

Juventus are keen on signing an attacking midfielder and have been linked with Schalke’s Julian Draxler.

The Old Lady have sold some star names this summer (Carlos Tevez and Andrea Pirlo) and are in the midst of putting together a new-look side for Massimo Allegri.

According to Di Marzio, Juventus were previously interested in Lamela’s Spurs team mate Christian Eriksen but the Danish international would cost at least 40 million euros.

In addition, Di Marzio claims that Manchester United bid 33 million euros for Eriksen last summer and that Lamela would likely be a much more affordable option for Juventus.

We suspect Spurs will hold onto Lamela and give the Argentine another full season to work his way into English football but a big offer from Juventus could be tempting…
