Man United: Louis Van Gaal Relegates De Gea To Reserves

Manchester United may have won their first two Premier League games, securing clean sheets in both, but the furore surrounding David De Gea continues, with Real Madrid waiting in the wings.

De Gea was left out of the Manchester United squad for the trip to Aston Villa on Friday night with Louis van Gaal saying in his pre-match press conference that the Spaniard is refusing to play.

This claim from LVG has been refuted on a number of occasions in both the English and Spanish press since Thursday.

On Saturday, Spanish radio station Cope have revealed that De Gea has now been dropped by Louis van Gaal from first team training.

As a result, De Gea has been training with the Manchester United reserve team for the past two days in what Cope describe as “either punishment or a show of strength from Louis van Gaal.”

Cope add that De Gea remains “tense and is waiting to fulfil his dream of signing for Real Madrid.”

The Spanish custodian watched Manchester United’s win at Aston Villa from his home and is still hopeful an agreement can be reached with Real Madrid.

For now, De Gea will not hand in a transfer request and his agent Jorge Mendes remains “calm and tranquil” over the move.

Meanwhile, De Gea is thankful to the Manchester United fans who sang his name at Villa Park on Friday night.

Cope add that this could be a decisive week for the transfer after De Gea rejected a new contract from Manchester United that is worth more than what he will be paid at the Bernabeu.
