Raheem Sterling’s boots certainly caught the eye yesterday. The 20-year old is settling in nicely at Manchester City, having completed his controversial move from Liverpool this summer.
There was a lot of talk that Sterling was taking a big risk by moving to City, with Liverpool fans mocking him by predicting he’d spend most of his time on the bench, but so far he’s been one of City’s best players.
And it looks as though Aidy Ward and Sterling’s people are now trying to boost the player’s brand and marketability, judging by the bright pink boots he wore yesterday.
Along with an inscription dedicated to his daughter Melody-Rose, Sterling’s boots bore the initials ‘RS7′.
Having worn the non-descript number 31 at Liverpool, Sterling now wears the number 7 at City, a number traditionally synonymous with wingers of his ilk, and an iconic digit throughout football history.
There’s just one problem though: ‘RS7′ is dangerously similar to ‘CR7′; and Cristiano Ronaldo already appears to have the 7 market sewn up.
