AFCON 2017 Qualifier: Tanzanian Fans Threatens Eagles With "Juju & Voodooo"

Juju is Africa's magic and it sometimes surfaces in football with fans and some footballers. Tanzanian fans have threatened the Eagles that their voodoo powers will be at work against the Eagles during the match thereby predicting a 3-0 win for the Tafia Stars. If the predictions are doom or not only time will tell.

Right from the airport in Dar es Salaam, the song was “your team will be beaten.” According to one of the fans, Omar Obonde; “We are going to invoke all the witches and juju power to beat your team.

We know you have better players but we will not allow your team to intimidate us. “Our witches and juju powers have told us your team would fall by 3-0. It looks impossible but in football anything is possible,” he added.

Speaking in the same vein, Priscilla Amatin said, “You can’t come and beat us at home as we have consulted powers that have assured us of victory. Don’t expect an easy game as we are ready to defend our nation.”

Meanwhile, the Tanzania Football Association has pegged the prices of tickets for today’s match at 1, 500, 7, 000, 10, 000 and 40, 000 Tanzania Shillings for the popular, medium and VIP sections of 45, 000 capacity National Stadium.

There are indications that Super Eagles would have to contend with a hostile crowd at the 60, 000 capacity stadium as they take on Taifa Stars. All over the city, fans have been mobilized through public address system, radio, television and newspapers, to come out in their numbers to cheer the team to victory.

According to one of the fans simply known as John, “we want to beat Nigeria to avenge those painful defeats of the past. We are not at the same level with Nigeria but our boys can do the impossible.”
