One time Super Eagles delight Kalu Uche has signed for Indian side FC Pune City. Kalu Uche was spotted by David Platt has a good option for the club's attack.
David Platt’s foreign quota of players has been filled after FC Pune City signed up forward Kalu Uche from Levante and winger Wesley Verhoek from Dutch club ‘Go Ahead Eagles’.
The Wadhawan co-owned franchise took to social media to announce the last two additions to their squad before the Indian Super League (ISL) kicks off on October 3. The double signing announcement comes after the Pune outfit signed up the likes of Tuncay Sanli and Roger Johnson while out-bidding other franchises to land Eugenson Lyngdoh and Jackichand Singh during the ISL auction.
Kalu Uche has experience in the La Liga and the French League for the likes of Bordeaux, Levante, Almeria and Espanyol. The strong centre-forward also has 36 appearances and 5 goals to his name in the green of Nigeria's national team shirt. Dutch winger Wesley Werhoek on the other hand has played for FC Twente and Feyenoord with a career spanning over a decade.
The addition of the 32-year-old Nigerian international and the 28-year-old Dutchman will add to the wealth of European experience that David Platt can rotate, ensuring players remain fit and ready for every challenge that comes their way. FC Pune City’s opening fixture is the Maharashtra Derby versus Mumbai City FC, on October 5.
