Manchester United: David De Gea Signs New 4-Year Contract

After his move to Real Madrid failed on deadline day, David De Gea has penned a new 4-year deal with Manchester United which seems like bad news for Real Madrid and Argentina's goalkeeper Romero who has been enjoying the first team place during De Gea's failed transfer saga has the Spaniard whom Van Gaal has hailed as his best player last season his set to get his first team role back.

David de Gea is off back to Manchester. It was anticipated that he would be heading to Valdebebas to get to work under Rafa Benítez after the international break, but nothing in the negotiations with Real Madrid turned out as hoped or expected.

The goalkeeper's days away with the Spain team have served as a tonic, allowing him to process the frustration of his dream move to 'Los Blancos' falling apart in such gut-wrenching circumstances. Now, however, it is back to the reality of life in England and De Gea is ready to let bygones be bygones for now and to start afresh.

United are going to make things easy for the 24-year-old. The Red Devils are waiting for their number 1 with open arms and will happily wipe the slate clean. After all, De Gea may have had his mind set on leaving, but he conducted himself professionally at all times, never refusing to play and always giving his all in training.

The club knows this and is eager to do everything possible to help reintegrate the goalie. What's more, despite some public friction between the pair, Louis van Gaal intends to begin making use of De Gea again right away and could even start him this weekend against Liverpool.

A new contract offer remains on the table for De Gea and the end game for United is still to cajole him into blowing off Real Madrid and staying at Old Trafford. To do so, they will be rolling out the red carpet.
