NBA: Rockets' Dwight Howard Escapes Charges After Gun Was Found In His Possession At The Airport

Gun laws in America are much flexible than in most countries and the gun killings there reflects the lapses of the law. One will require why Howard had a gun at the airport. No charges to be pressed on the NBA star.. Lucky boy, won't get away with that in Africa..

Houston Rockets center Dwight Howard was detained at the George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston on Aug. 28 when it was discovered he had a handgun in his carry-on bag. Law enforcement said Howard claimed ownership of the gun and was permitted to give the handgun to an associate.

Houston Police Department spokesperson Kese Smith says that the district attorney's office declined to press charges against Howard after being informed of his detainment and Howard was allowed to board a later flight.


Houston Police Department spokesperson Kese Smith said Wednesday that Howard was stopped at Terminal E at 7 a.m. when TSA officials discovered a pistol in the bottom of a carry-on bag.

Howard told officials the gun was his and after being detained by law enforcement officials he was allowed to give the handgun to an associate.

The Houston District Attorney's office was contacted after Howard was detained and declined to press any criminal charges against him.

Smith also said that few files or charges are made at either of Houston's two main airports when firearms are found.
