Real Madrid Crisis: Perez To Address Media Today

Florentino Perez will address the Spanish press this evening in what many believes to be a move to pour out support to Benitez. Facts show that Perez is not to pleased with Benitez but he is opposed to sacking him now though that might happen at the end of the season. Perez has employed 13 coaches within 15 seasons and the fans are already calling for his head.

Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez has called an urgent press conference to be held in the presidential box at the Bernabéu at 19:30, presumably to address the crisis surrounding the club following the 4-0 'Clásico' shellacking at the hands of Barça. The media event, which was announced through a club statement, will take place after a board meeting.

The first information doing the rounds suggests Pérez will speak out in support of Rafa Benítez, who has come under fire following Saturday's result, which in turn has led to speculation about the coach having lost the dressing room.

It is believed to be unlikely that the Madrid-born manager will be sacked at this point, even though Benítez's position is obviously not ideal.

A substantial group within the 'Los Blancos' dressing room is said to want Benitez out but, according to our sources, the president has got behind the summer appointment and may even have given the coach free rein to take any drastic measures that he sees fit.

Early presidential elections are not expected to be announced at this juncture either, although this is a possibility that could come about in the near future.
