Samson Siasia's Mother Released After 600,000 Naira Payment

According to Goal.com a token of 600,000 naira has been paid by Siasia's family to the captors of Samson Siasia's mother for her freedom. The release will certainly send easing waves to the coach and his team at large who are already set to take on Mali tomorrow in the AFCON U-23 championship in Senegal.

Goal has learnt that Madam Beauty Ogere Siasia, mother of Nigeria U23 coach Samson Siasia, has been released by her abductors 12 days after she was kidnapped.

The coach had cried out that he wasn’t a rich man and there was no way he could have raised the initial N150 million naira asked for, which was later cut to N50 million then N32 million before they finally agreed to take whatever the Siasia family could offer, an amount which is said to be around N600,000.

After much negotiation, Madam Siasia was finally released by the kidnappers at around 10:30pm on Friday night.

Elated family spokesman Dennis Siasia disclosed to Goal around 7am on Saturday morning that the woman was released and has been moved to her village in Bayelsa State.

“I sincerely thank the Nigeria Police and the DSS (Department of State Services) for their efforts in ensuring that Mama was finally released by her captors,” Dennis told Goal.

“My elder brother Samson Siasia was very happy to receive the news of Mama’s release and I think this will help a great deal in Samson’s concentration to the task ahead.”

Samson Siasia is leading the Nigeria U23 team to fight for a slot to the 2016 Olympic Games at the Caf U23 Championship in Senegal.
