Ronaldo Set To Prove Self In El Classico

Cristiano Ronaldo literally cannot wait to silence his critics, and he is well aware that there is no better stage to do so than that provided by the 'Clásico'.

The former Manchester United wizard is out to prove to his doubters that he's still capable of delivering, and that he is able to undo even the meanest of defences. In recent weeks, the common consensus has been that Real's number 7 has been the victim of both the system employed by Rafa Benítez and all of football's off-field antics. The 30-year-old feels as if he has been victimised, and is fully aware that the best possible way to put an end to all of the rumours is by putting in a top performance in a game which it is estimated will be watched by some 400 million around the world.

Ronaldo's preparations ahead of this particular duel against Barcelona really couldn't have been more different to the lead-up to previous encounters. On this occasion, the three-time Ballon d'Or winner will take to the Bernabéu turf following two weeks of solid training in which the focus has been on this one game.

There have been no distractions, barring the premiere of his film in London. The rest of the time has been fully dedicated to plotting victory over a Barça team against whom he's netted 7 times in 12 domestic fixtures, and in each of the last three.

CR7 is massively determined to get one over on his arch-rival during the past decade: Leo Messi. Ronaldo has had a whole fortnight to focus on the game. Every last second of his fine-tuning has gone into ensuring that when the whistle blows he is in tip-top condition. There's a lot resting on this game, both for Ronaldo individually, and for his team, and boy does he know it.
