The worst kept secret in the world of football transfers can now stop playing dumb and come out with it – Robert Lewandowski will sign for Bayern Munich.
The Pole nicknamed ‘The Body’ is believed to have had an agreement with the Bavarian giants since the summer, but all parties have had to keep quiet in order to keep up Bundesliga appearances and save the league’s face as much as anything.
But it’s now been announced by Bavarian media Abendzeitung Munchen that Lewandowski will undergo a medical at Bayern this weekend, a formality that will more or less put the seal on the transfer; and word on the wire is that both clubs will make respective announcements.
So unlike Gotze, who managed to slip away without playing another game for Dortmund after his move to Bayern was announced last year, Lewandowski now has another half-season to see out with the team he’s about to abandon for one of their hated rivals.
It should be an interesting few final months for Lewandowski on the Ruhr…
