Former Super Eagles captain Sunday has leapt to the defence of national team coach Stephen Keshi following the criticisms that have come the way of his one-time national teammate.
The Eagles in the early hours of Sunday defeated Bosnia-Herzegovina 1-0 to be within a point of securing a Round of 16 place from Group F, but a section of Nigerians find it bemusing that Keshi’s team had to slow the tempo of the game with the African champions leading 1-0 in the second half.
“Please stop complaining about the tactics of Keshi in the second half against Bosnia.
“In my opinion, it was smart to try to hold onto the result, ” Oliseh reasoned in his analysis of the crucial game in Cuiaba.
On the impact of striker Emmanuel Emenike in the game, Oliseh described the striker as omni-present.
“Did anyone notice how ‘omni present’ Emmanuel Emenike was in the game against Bosnia? In this player. I believe we can hurt the fragile Argentine defence.
“Yes, but here’s one thing: If Emenike had the right service, he will be much more effective.
“He is being overworked because he looks for balls that a midfield ought to give him. I wish the team well against Argentina,” Oliseh concluded.
