Gerard Piqué and Shakira have splashed out €5 million on a mansion in Barcelona's plush Pedralbes neighbourhood. The huge house covers 1,500 square metres and is equipped with every conceivable comfort and a high degree of privacy.
According to Coldwell Banker Prestige Barcelona, the estate agent which managed the sale of the property, Shakira and Piqué had been interested in the luxurious digs for several years, but the sale did not go through until a few weeks ago at a price of €5 million.
The couple's new home is located on Pearson Avenue in the Pedralbes neighbourhood, although the house cannot be seen from the road because it is surrounded by trees and gardens. According to the agents, however, these do not block out the spectacular views of the Catalan capital.
The building comprises three storeys with a floor space of 1,500 square metres, featuring seven bedrooms, two kitchens, a swimming pool complete with a waterfall, a gym and many other comforts.
According to François Carriere, the head of Coldwell Banker in Spain, "It is a great buy for the new occupants because it is one of the best houses in the city". Carriere adds that "the sale was able to go through very quickly and below the market value given the seller's interest in securing a rapid sale".
Coldwell Banker Prestige Barcelona also recently managed the sale of the mansion which belonged to Princess Cristina and Iñaki Urdangarin, located nearby the house which Piqué and Shakira have just purchased.
