Manchester City had agreed a £49million fee for the services of 20 year old in a deal which would see the Manchester club pay £44million upfront with £5million to be paid in performance related bonuses.
Raheem Sterling is understood to have agreed a contract with Manchester City worth around £200,000 a week which is a lot more than the £30,000 a week deal which the player is currently on at Liverpool.
The graphic compiled by Sky Sports gives an indication as to the significance of such a transfer. The player will become the most expensive player in history for someone under the age of 21 and he will be the most costly by quite a distance too.
Other names included in the list are Wayne Rooney who’s transfer from Everton to Manchester United cost £27million in 2004, and Nicolas Anelka who’s transfer from Arsenal to Real Madrid cost £23million in 1999.
