SUPER EAGLES: Oliseh Arrives Abuja For Unveiling

Former Nigeria international Sunday Oliseh landed in Abuja on Tuesday evening, ahead of his five-year contract signing and unveiling as the Super Eagles new coach.

Goal learnt the former Super Eagles captain will be unveiled on Wednesday morning after his ceremonial contract signing at a media presentation scheduled for the National Stadium, Abuja.

Oliseh arrived alongside his proposed Belgian assistant Jean Francois Lusciuto, who has had some depth of experience previously in charge of club sides in Togo, Burkina Faso and Rwanda.


Earlier, the NFF announced negotiations were almost concluded after successful talks were held in London for the 40-year-old to replace ex-teammate Stephen Keshi, who was sacked for breach of trust.

Oliseh has been madated to produce a five–year developmental plan of a unique playing and coaching philosophy for all the National teams, as well as regularly work hand-in-hand with coaches of those teams.

He is presently a FIFA instructor, and runs a consultancy that trains and assesses coaches worldwide. He is also member of the FIFA Technical Study Group.

As a footballer, he played in the Nigeria squad that won the Africa Cup of Nations in Tunisia in 1994, and in the squad for the 1994 and 1998 FIFA World Cup final competitions, with the Super Eagles reaching the Round of 16 both times. He was also in the Nigeria U-23 side that won Africa’s first Olympic football gold in Atlanta 19 years ago.


Oliseh played for Reggiana, FC Cologne, Ajax Amsterdam, Juventus, Borussia Dortmund, VFL Bochum and RC Genk in a magnificent professional career, during which he played under some of the best coaches in the universe.

He won 63 caps for Nigeria between 1993 and 2002, picking up Africa Cup of Nations gold, silver and bronze medals.

Oliseh holds a UEFA Pro License, and coached Belgian lower division club, Vervietois between 2008 and 2009.
