Manchester City are poised to offload Bosnian striker Edin Dzeko before the new season starts, as it’s reported on the front page of Italian daily Gazzetta Dello Sport that Dzeko is on the verge of a €23m to Roma.
Indeed, the pink paper claim that Dzeko’s transfer is a “done deal” and that the negotiations are “closed”.
All that’s left if for the transfer to be confirmed by the two parties and the player. Gazzetta note that Roma managed to get City’s asking price down from €28m, while the striker all-but ratified the deal when he retweeted a message claiming the move was done on Saturday.
Interestingly, Dzeko later undid that retweet.
With Steven Jovetic having gone on loan to Inter Milan, the sale of Dzeko will leave Man City with just two recognised strikers in Sergio Aguero and Wilfried Bony, although new signing Raheem Sterling can operate as a central striker if needed.
For the record, Dzeko scored 50 league goals for the Citizens from 130 league games.
