NPFL: Bayelsa United 2-2 Kano Pillars

Kano Pillars stepped up their title chase with a 1-1 draw at Bayelsa United in Nigeria Professional Football League Week 22 clash played at the Oghara Township Stadium.

Johon Paul's strike failed to hand survival-seeking coach Richard Bubagha's men victory as Bala equaliser snatched a vital away point for the visitors.

It was Bayelsa United's Osamudiame Idehen squeezed through in the 13th minute in search for early lead, but was stopped after caught in an offside position.

In the 20th minute, Moses Ekpai broke forward in quest to nick the lead for Pillars, but Bayelsa's Junior Salomon was quick to stop him.

The long-awaited goal came with John Paul giving the hosts the priceless lead  in the 26th minute.

Three minutes later, Muhammed Babaganaru's men secured a leveller through Bala and held on to a 1-1 draw till the half time break.
