Oliseh Didn't Choose Our Best Players - Alhaji Shuaib Gara

Former Gombe State FA chairman, Alhaji Shuaib Gara Gombe has faulted the list of 18 foreign based professionals released on Monday by new Super Eagles  gaffer Sunday Oliseh for the AFCON 2017 qualifier against Tanzania, declaring that they are not the best legs the country can boast of.

Gara-Gombe told Daily Sunsports yesterday that he was surprised the NFF endorsed the list of players that was populated by those plying their trade in obscure clubs in Europe.

He said the same NFF that crucified Stephen Keshi for inviting a player “from nowhere” had endorsed Oliseh’s list that included players who have no business in Eagles.

“I have seen Oliseh’s list and I can tell you that some of those he invited have no business in Eagles. I don’t see any reason why he (Oliseh) will invite some journeymen from Russia while leaving out Odion Ighalo who is featuring in the EPL. Kelechi Iheanancho is making Man City’s team list just like Victor Moses is doing in Chelsea and I can tell you that they are better than these characters Oliseh is bringing from Russia,” Gara Gombe stated.

The vocal football buff warned that Nigeria may not qualify for the AFCON 2017 tournament if Oliseh is not quickly called to order.

“Oliseh said he will invite players on merit and those who are not playing top flight football in Europe  wont come near the Eagles. Those he has called up now, are they the ones playing top flight football in Europe? I have my fears. I hope it is not going to be business as usual in the Eagles,” Gara Gombe stated.

He also dismissed Oliseh’s appearance at the floor of Nigeria Stock Exchange to ring bell insisting the coach should concentrate on his coaching job rather than playing the role of a marketer.
