NIGERIAN LEAGUE ROUND UP: Taraba FC Close to Relegation, Sunshine Still Shinning & More

NASARAWA UNITED 1-1 FC IFEANYI UBAH

The Solid Miners lost more ground on the league table after they were held to a 1-1 draw by the Anambra Warriors at the Aper Aku Stadium, Makurdi on Sunday.

Nasarawa United started the game brightly and took the lead through Esosa Igbinoba in the 11th minute but got their joy silence six minutes later through Bright Onyedikachi who equalised for the away team


The Lafia side are 12th on the log with 23 points from 17 matches while FC IfeanyiUbah are sixth on the log with 27 points.


ENUGU RANGERS 3-1 LOBI STARS

Lobi Stars were beaten 3-1 by host Rangers at the Nnamdi Azikwe Stadium on Sunday.

Matthew Etim put the hosts ahead in the 52nd minute before goals from Godwin Aguda and Shehu Nasir’s own goal in the 59th and 65th minutes condemned the Makurdi based team to defeat.

The visitor pulled one back through Obioma Arinze in the 89th minute. Enugu Rangers have moved to the eighth position on the log with 26 points from 17 games while Lobi are 15th on the table.


KWARA UNITED 0-1 SHARKS

Kwara United FC bowed 1-0 at home to Sharks – which was their second home defeat of the season.

Christian Pyagbara got the winning strike for the relegation-threatened Blue Angels in the 24th minute of the tie as they held on to a narrow win.

 The Harmony Warriors were handed a lifeline in the 41st minute when they were awarded a spot kick but Dare Ojo fluffed the chance.

Sharks moved to 15 points from 17 games while Kwara United are 17th on the table with 16 points from 16 games.


ABIA WARRIORS 3-1 FC TARABA

Abia Warriors marked their return home with a comfortable win over sinking FC Taraba on Sunday.

Valentine Nwabili put the Umuahia side in the driver's seat in the 19th minute but Ibrahim Sanusi netted the equaliser for the visitors in the 33rd minute off a good work from Chinedu Ohanachom.

 A double from Ndifreke Effiong – his sixth and seventh of the season ensured the Jalingo based team returned home empty handed.

Abia Warriors moved to 26 points from 17 games while the visitors remain at the base of the log with 13 points.


WIKKI TOURISTS 2-1 EL KANEMI WARRIORS

At the Tafawa Balewa Stadium in Bauchi, Wikki Tourists managed a narrow win over the Borno Army on Sunday.

Umar Mubarak got the home team's curtain raiser in the 20th minute after a good work from Uche Martins but El Kanemi got the equalizer before Samuel Chukwudi sealed all points for Wikki in the 57th minute.

Wikki jumped to second on the log with 32 points from 17 games while El Kanemi Warriors went down to 13th with 23 points from 16 games.


AKWA UNITED 1-0 KANO PILLARS

The Promise Keepers piped the reigning league kings 1-0 in Uyo.

Ukeme Davies netted the lone goal in the 18th minute of the match. The win came as a relief for coach Zachary Baraje who was handed a three-match ultimatum by the club management.

Despite the win, Akwa United slipped a step down on the log to 14th with 21 points from 17 matches while Pillars are ninth on the log with 25 points from 17 matches.
