Ex Arsenal Star Abou Diaby Signs For Olympic Marseille

Former Arsenal midfielder Abou Diaby has signed for Marseille after being released by the Gunners earlier this month.

The French international had looked set for a move to West Brom earlier this week after the 29- year-old had a medical at The Hawthorns, but the player has instead opted on a return to Ligue 1 nine years after leaving French club Auexerre.

Abou Diaby made 182 appearances for Arsenal since joining the club in 2006 but a nightmare of injury problems have restricted the midfielder to just two appearances in two seasons.

It is no secret that Arsenal are keen to sign a defensive midfielder in the transfer market but only if the right player becomes available as the club look to find a long term successor to Mikel Arteta.

In recent weeks Barcelona starlet Sergi Samper has been linked with a move to the Emirates but it is understood that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is not interested in signing the 20-year-old this summer.
