AFCON: Super Eagles Fear Hits Tanzanian Team

Fever has gripped Tanzania ahead of tomorrow’s eagerly awaited 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier between the Taifa Stars and Super Eagles at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam.

Tanzania are rooted to the bottom of Group G after losing 3-0 away to Egypt in match day one in June and now they need to get maximum points on board in their quest for a first ever AFCON appearance since 1980.

Nigeria and Egypt have three points each after one game in Group G, though the Pharaohs have scored one more goal and are, therefore, ahead.

Meanwhile, in-form Seattle Sounders forward and former Super Eagles striker Obafemi Martins thinks that Oliseh’s first list as the new Eagles’ gaffer is spot on.

Martins, who has scored 18 goals in 39 games for Nigeria, called the list, that includes six local stars from the NPFL, laden with talent and has tipped Nigeria to beat Tanzania.

“I think the coach has chosen a good squad and hopefully Nigeria will win in Tanzania. We shouldn’t underrate any team in Africa for now because there are no minnows in world football any more

“I have seen the list, very experience team led by Emmanuel Emenike and Vincent Enyeama and I am sure they will beat their hosts to come out top in the group,” he added.

Martins recently declared that he is willing to play for Nigeria again after publicly criticising former coach Stephen Keshi and vowing not to play internationally again.
