Nigerians Abroad: Ogbeche Hits Double, Musa Fires Blank & More

Nigerian striker, Bartholomew Ogbeche scored twice for Cambuur in the Eredivisie on a weekend when not many Nigerians hogged the headlines for goalscoring performances in Europe. Abduljeleel Ajagun and Fred Friday were the other goalscorers in Greece and Norway respectively.

The striker’s brace helped Cambuur claim a point in the 3-3 draw with Utrecht at Stadion Galgenwaard.

England (Premier League)

Kelechi Iheanacho is currently out injured and duly missed out on Manchester City’s 1-4 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane.

Peter Odemwingie was not listed for Stoke City in the club’s 2-1 win over AFC Bournemount at the Britannia Stadium.

Victor Moses played for 57 minutes as West Ham United drew 2-2 with Norwich City at the Boleyn Ground.

John Obi Mikel was an unused Chelsea substitute in the 2-2 draw with Newcastle United at St. James’ Park.

Odion Ighalo failed to score for Watford despite playing for all 90 minutes in the Hornets’ 0-1 loss to Crystal Palace at Vicarage Road.

Germany (Bundesliga)

Leon Balogun played the final nine minutes of Mainz 05’s 0-3 loss to Bayern Munich at Coface Arena.

Anthony Ujah led the line for Werder Bremen but failed to make any goal scoring impact in the 0-3 loss to Bayer 04 Leverkusen at Weserstadion.

Italy (Serie A)

Joel Obi played the final 22 minutes for Torino in the 2-1 win over Palermo at Stadio Olimpico di Torino. Obi was sent off in the 89th minute for a second bookable offence.

Ogenyi Onazi was an unused SS Lazio substitute in the 2-1 win over Hellas Verona at Stadio Marc'Antonio Bentegodi.

Spain (Primera División)

Success Isaac was on for an hour before he was replaced by Thievy Bifouma in Granada’s 0-1 defeat to Valencia at Mestalla.

Uche Agbo also played for Granada in the contest as he replaced Javi Márquez on 66 minutes.

France (Ligue 1)

Vincent Enyeama missed out on Lille OSC’s 0-1 loss to Reims at Stade Auguste-Delaune II as a result of suspension.

Elderson Echiejile was not listed as Monaco drew 3-3 with En Avant Guingamp at Stade du Roudourou.

The Netherlands (Eredivisie)

Abiola Dauda was an unused substitute in Vitesse’s 0-0 draw with Heerenveenn at Abe Lenstra Stadion.

Bartholomew Ogbeche scored twice as Cambuur with 3-3 draw with FC Utrecht at Stadion Galgenwaard.

Turkey (Süper Lig)

Michael Eneramo was an unused substitute Sivasspor in the 1-1 draw with Antalyaspor an Akdeniz Üniversitesi Stadyumu.

John Chibuike played all 90 minutes for Gaziantepspor in the club’s 1-2 defeat to Galatasaray at Türk Telekom Arena.

Gbenga Arokoyo was an unused substitute for Gaziantepspor.

Russia (Premier League)

Ahmed Musa played all 90 minutes for CSKA Moscow in the Moscow derby against Lokomotiv.

The game ended in a 1-1 draw and Musa failed to get on the scoresheet at the Arena Khimki.

Sylvester Igbonu played all 90 minutes for Ufa in the 1-1 draw with Anzhi Makhachkala at Anzhi-Arena.

Belgium (Jupiler Pro League)

Ezekiel Imoh was not listed for Standard Liege in the 2-2 draw with OH Leuven at Stade Maurice Dufrasne.

Moses Simon played for an hour as Gent beat 3-1 Waasland-Beveren at Freethiel-Stadion.

Greece (Super League)

Former Dolphins man, Abduljeleel Ajagun, scored the winner for Panathinaikos in their 1-0 win over Platanias at the Apostolos Nikolaidis Stadium on Sunday. Ajagun played all 90 minutes for Pana.

Norway (Tippeligaen)

Nigerian forward, Fred Friday, netted in Lillestrom SK's 3-0 bashing of Mjondalen IF on Saturday. The 20-year-old took his goals account to eight for the season. His compatriot, Innocent Bonke, came off the bench to replace Marius Lundemo and played for 45 minutes in Lillestrom's win.
