Ronaldinho has agreed to join Fluminense, set to receive £163,000 a month in wages [Globo]
Brazilian website Globo are reporting on Saturday night that Ronaldinho has agreed to join Fluminense.
Ronaldinho has been a free agent since being released by Mexican club Queretaro with a year left on his contract. It had looked like Ronaldinho was going to sign with Turkish club Antalyaspor, however it now looks certain that Fluminense will sign the 35-year-old midfielder star.
Globo claim that “what was already known will be confirmed”, after Ronaldinho agreed personal terms with Flu on Friday night.
Ronaldinho is set to sign a one year deal with the club, which will earn him around £163,000 a month in wages. Ronaldinho will also get a cut of shirt sales.
The way Globo tell it, Fluminense’s decision to sign Ronaldinho is as much about marketing and global sales, as it is about the player’s ability to perform on the pitch. The Brazilian outlet report “having Ronaldinho is seen by the club as a strong action of internationalisation of their brand”.
Globo also say Fluminense hope to raise enough money through signing Ronaldinho so that they can accelerate their project to get a new training facility.
